In an attempt to save energy and money, the PVFD is continuing it's program of upgrades to our buildings. We just concluded a project of revamping our heating system to increase its' efficiency. The department is proud to announce for the second year in a row we have recieved a community assistance grant from the Pennsylvania American Water Company. The $500.00 grant will be used to purchase class "A' foam for use on the fire ground.
The department is saddened by the death of Pierre Klein, life member and former fire chief for over 30 years. Thank you to all of our fire service comrades who assisted us in remembering Pierre's life and his many contributions to the fire service in Allegheny County and the State of Pennsylvania.
PVFD was dispatched to 13 incidents during the month of January 2012, including: 1 structure fire, 2 vehicle fires, 1 smoke investigation, 1 vehicle extrication, 1 physical rescue, 4 accidents, 2 fire alarms, & 1 CO alarm.
